Dior Doubles Down On Women

Everyone knows of Christian Dior. But not everyone knows Catherine Dior, his sister, a French resistance fighter during World War II who earned several awards for her bravery, including the Legion of Honour. Catherine Dior subsequently spent her remaining years working with flowers and serving as an unofficial muse of the house of Dior.

Presently, Dior continues to honor strong women like Catherine. In 2018, Maria Grazia Chiuri became the brand’s first female artistic director, and since then, each show and collection has placed feminism front-and-center, with slogans on the runway and that now-iconic T-shirt. With a new beauty partnership, the brand extends its commitment to women.

Dior Parfums is launching a new campaign, Dior Stands With Women. The initiative highlights ten impressive women, among them current Dior Beauty faces Cara Delevingne and Charlize Theron. They’re joined by Roma star Yalitza Aparicio, frequent Rihanna collaborator and choreographer Parris Goebel, model Paloma Elsesser, Congolese photographer Pamela Tulizo (who won Dior’s Photography and Visual Arts Award for Young Talents), Chinese actress Li Bingbing, and Dior’s own perfume flower producer Carole Biancalana. In a press release, Dior explains the women were chosen because they are “passionate and committed,” and are working to “make an impact on the world.”

The initiative will also be supporting the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) and its upcoming 2021 Youth Leaders Scholarship Program. Watch the video below to see the full roster of exceptional women.
