Prince Harry and Oprah’s long-awaited docuseries about mental health is finally on its way. After being delayed due to the pandemic and Prince Harry’s departure as a senior royal family member, The Me You Can’t See will premiere on Friday, May 21, on Apple TV+.
It seems Prince Harry and Oprah have been friendly for a while now; Oprah attended his 2018 wedding to Meghan and, more recently, moderated that bombshell Harry and Meghan interview back in March. Now, the two are serving as co-creators and executive producers of the show, which a press release says will see them guiding “powerful and honest discussions about mental health and emotional well-being while opening up about their own experiences and struggles.”
As with most Meghan and Harry projects, the guest list is looking pretty star-studded: The initial slate promises a mix of sports people, celebrity chefs, and A-list stars including Glenn Close and Lady Gaga.
“The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels — and is — very personal. Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together,” Prince Harry said in the announcement. “My hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty.”
The Me You Can’t See is a separate project from the multiyear production deal Meghan and Harry signed with Netflix in September. That whole thing will kick off with Heart of Invictus, a docuseries focusing on the Invictus Games, a sporting event for wounded, injured, or ill service people founded by Harry. It will be produced by Archewell Productions, one of the arms of Meghan and Harry’s ever-growing nonprofit organization Archewell. Prince Harry, meanwhile, gets to add yet another job title to his increasingly amorphous résumé.
