I’m not entirely convinced that Anya Taylor-Joy is of this Earth. She looks like a gazelle and a mannequin had the most beautiful baby. I’m surprised that the only time she’s played an angel is in this cut-for-time SNL sketch. All to say that it’s no surprise she looked stunning Sunday night for the 2021 Emmys.
All yellow?! How dare you, Anya! You know it’s bad to stare at the sun!!

Taylor-Joy, who was styled by Paul Burgo, wasn’t the only one in head-to-toe yellow for Sunday night’s award show: Fellow nominees Kaley Cuoco and Michaela Coel also wore all-yellow gowns to the 2021 Emmys. Taylor-Joy’s makeup and outfit were both Dior, her jewelry was Tiffany & Co., and her hair was in the kind of updo I would have killed to have at my junior prom. It’d be nearly impossible to make this demigod look bad, but Taylor-Joy’s ability to kill it on the red carpet is impressive nonetheless.
Taylor-Joy is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her work in The Queen’s Gambit. She’s already won a Screen Actors Guild award and a Golden Globe for her role in the series. All well-deserved recognition because who else could get you to care about chess as much as Anya Taylor-Joy has?
She’s up against some fierce competition in her category: Michaela Coel for I May Destroy You, Cynthia Erivo fro Genius: Aretha, Elizabeth Olsen for WandaVision, and Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown. If Coel doesn’t win, I will gladly watch Taylor-Joy smooch her boyfriend and give a speech in her gorgeously indistinguishable accent.
