Red carpets can be pretty predictable. An actor in a black suit. Oh my! An actress in the same ol’ gown. Wow! But every once in a while, the celebs come through and actually deliver memorable moments like Anya Taylor-Joy in a sweeping Christian Dior gown or basically anything that Billy Porter wears. Still, it just might be something that could easily fly under the radar unless you keep your eyes peeled … like Issa Rae’s icy grillz.
Like a little kid proudly showing her classmates that she lost her first tooth, Rae showed off her accessory. The grillz are made of 22-karat white gold and diamonds from Grillz by Scotty, who has made sets for Slick Woods, Jesse Williams, and … uh, Torey Lanez. Anyway!
Rae is nominated in two categories at the 2021 Emmy Awards: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and for her work as executive producer of A Black Lady Sketch Show, which is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
