At the Oscars this year decided to wear … red? Groundbreaking.
Red is a powerful color, it’s bold, it’s bright and again it’s also the color of the carpet. Of course, this isn’t the first time the color has made an appearance, Viola Davis, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicole Kidman, Lupita Nyong’o, and more have all worn red gowns on the Oscars red carpet, just not all at once. Maybe it’s power-clashing or some form of fashion camouflage that led it to become the color of the evening. Tracee Ellis Ross was wearing a plunging, strapless Carolina Herrera gown, and actress Kirsten Dunst was in a layered vintage gown by Christian Lacroix. West Side Story actress Ariana DeBose arrived in custom Valentino, Rosie Perez and Marlee Matlin arrived in red gowns as well.
However, this trend isn’t just for gowns and Ariana DeBose’s jumpsuit, Simu Liu also arrived in an all-red suit. We’d like to imagine they’re all in a group chat trading screenshots of their outfits. We’ll be on red outfit watch all night so watch this space.
