Even amid the claims that Doja Cat is quitting music, the show must go on. The singer showed up to the Grammys (for which she’s nominated eight times) on Sunday night in true Doja Cat fashion: vaping in a sparkly Versace gown. Accompanying the sheer turquoise number is a clear purse inexplicably filled with what looks like gold-wrapped candy, and a bejeweled headphones case. I can only hope this is somehow indicative of what she has in store for us when she performs later tonight.
Last week, Doja Cat took to Twitter to share that she was done with music, and that “those who are seeing me at the after hours tour, i’m not bailing. But me not bailing doesn’t mean my ass isn’t gonna disappear right after” in regards to her opening for the Weeknd’s tour. However, who knows what her attitude will be like tonight? She is nominated for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. Maybe a win will be enough to change her mind?
