No matter where you stand, it’s far to say that Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has talked a lot about his divorce from Kim Kardashian. He’s performed songs about it, posted (and deleted) many, many Instagrams about it, and he’s even made music videos alluding to Kardashian’s new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. Kim, on the other hand, has been a bit more tight-lipped, but she’s opening up in a new interview promoting her family’s Hulu reality show, The Kardashians.
Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, and their mother, Kris Jenner, all spoke to ABC News’ Robin Roberts for a primetime special, in which they touched on living in the public eye and, of course, Kanye. When asked about Ye’s Instagram posts, which frequently included very public allegations against her — claiming that he was kept from his daughter, Chicago’s birthday party, and that he hasn’t been given access to his children (allegations she denied) — Kim said she wanted to be as supportive of her ex as possible. “You wanna take the high road, and sometimes it’s hard. But I think that at the end of the day, everyone has their own way of communicating,” she said. “I’ve always been, like, a champion of him speaking his truth, and I would always want that.”
Kardashian added that she is “open and honest” with her four children about what’s happening. “You have to just really be there for them, no matter what,” she said, adding that she tries to have an “open dialogue” with her children. She also said that she and Ye “have had conversations, we have to talk daily for the kids.”
As far as her relationship with Ye goes, Kim insisted, “Kanye and I will always be family. At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy, and think the world of their dad, and they do.”
