Don’t worry, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t back in the royal family — at least not yet — but they are back in England. According to reports, the former royals took a trip back to Harry’s home to visit his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, making this their first joint visit since they quit the royal family and moved to America. (And since they openly discussed racism in the royal family on national television.)
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan reportedly confirmed that they had visited the queen at Windsor Castle, but it’s unclear whether or not they saw Harry’s father, Prince Charles, or his brother, Prince William. It’s also not known whether or not they brought their children, Archie and Lilibet, though reports suggest they did not. This tracks with Harry’s current court battle, where he has been fighting to get approval to pay for police security for his children if and when they visit the U.K., citing security concerns. Harry previously stated that he “does not feel safe” visiting England and it’s been reported that the lack of security is one of the main reasons the Queen’s great grandchildren have not been back to visit since the couple left the royal family in 2020.
The trip was a short one — Harry and Meghan just stopped by on their way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands — but hopefully it’s enough to put some rumors about a royal family feud to rest. Between the Queen’s public support of Prince Andrew and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s controversial Caribbean tour, the royal family doesn’t need any more negative press.
