In a series of Instagram stories posted on Tuesday, Halsey opened up about their ongoing health issues since giving birth to their son, Ender, in July. “I know that a lot of you guys have been wondering what’s going on with my health,” said Halsey, 27, addressing a TikTok they posted the same day about their various food allergies. “Obviously my health has changed a lot since I got pregnant and gave birth. I started getting really, really, really sick.”

Halsey, who wore a heart monitor in their stories, said “I’ve known I’ve had autoimmune issues for most of my life, especially having endometriosis, but it’s kind of been exacerbated since I had Ender.” Revealing that they’d been “hospitalized for anaphylaxis a few times,” Halsey told followers that they’d seen “100,000 doctors” and were eventually diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a group of hereditary disorders that affect connective tissue; POTS, or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, a blood-circulation disorder; mast-cell-activation syndrome, in which patients repeatedly experience the symptoms of anaphylactic episodes; and Sjögren’s syndrome; a systemic autoimmune disease.

“I’m still looking for the root cause of these things,” Halsey said. In the past, Halsey has been vocal about their struggles with endometriosis, a painful gynecological condition that played a role in several of Halsey’s miscarriages. During Tuesday’s Instagram stories, Halsey said they’re currently undergoing treatment and are “really excited and really confident” they’ll be able to perform in a “healthy” way during the upcoming tour for their 2021 album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which is scheduled to begin May 17.
