Sorry, Amy Schumer, Jesse Plemons is officially off the market. The Friday Night Lights star tied the knot with his longtime fiancée and recent co-star Kirsten Dunst, a rep for the actress confirmed on Friday, July 8. The couple reportedly had a destination wedding at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, but no other details were confirmed.
You’d be forgiven if you thought that Plemons and Dunst were, actually, already married. The actor called Dunst his “wife” at the 2022 Oscars during a seat-filler bit with co-host Amy Schumer. (Fans of the couple love them so much that the bit, which involved Schumer brushing Dunst aside to grab a seat next to Plemons, ended up being one of the most controversial moments of the night.) “We say we’re married because it feels like we’re married,” Plemons told Access last year, saying that the global pandemic and their two young children have made planning a wedding difficult. “We will, eventually, get married.” Seven months later, “eventually” has finally come.
Dunst and Plemons first met on the set of Fargo, on which they played a couple, but didn’t start dating until after the show had wrapped in 2016. They got engaged a year later, and have since welcomed two children, Ennis Howard, 4, and James Robert, 14 months, and earned a matching set of first Oscar nominations earlier this year. Dunst and Plemons were both nominated for their work in Netflix’s The Power of the Dog, a movie in which — surprise — they play another married couple. “It’s just so crazy to be a couple and have our first nominations together,” Dunst told Variety. “It’s like a storybook.”
