the object of our affection

As I type this, I am snuggled up on my couch wearing thick socks, sweatpants, and a hoodie. I’m very cozy, and am all too certain that I could stay in these clothes and in this position for days on end and be quite happy. But could I be cozier? Happier? Comfier? Yes. Always, yes. I’m a Taurus, which means I’m perpetually in search of the next softest, most luxurious thing, which is why when I heard about Loro Piana’s new “cocooning” collection, I quite literally gasped. Loro Piana is an Italian brand founded almost 100 years ago that is known for producing some of the highest-quality cashmere garments and accessories in the world. Even just saying the brand’s name makes me want to melt and curl up in a blanket. Although they do sell loungewear, what they’re actually known for is a more elevated, well-tailored look that you could wear from your private jet to a high-power business meeting. So not on your couch. But the couch is where so many of us find ourselves now, or curled up at our desks at home. The loungewear category has exploded since the pandemic began and continues to be something people want to invest in even as they return to the office. It makes sense, then, that Loro Piana would expand its cozy offerings — and give its capsule a fancy-sounding name like “cocooning.”

Of course, the collection is not cheap. It’s also not affordable. Reasonable, even? (Prices range from $300 for socks to $3,225 for a long cardigan.) But a girl can dream! And the holidays are coming up… Below, a selection of some pieces I’ll think of as I count Mongolian goats in my sleep.
