Few articles of clothing can be as powerful as a tiny pair of shorts. Tonight, Florence Pugh took little shorts to a big level: the Oscars. On the red carpet (which was actually a “Champagne” carpet this year), she wore a voluminous Valentino couture gown with an open front, and a little pair of black tap shorts peeking through underneath.
Pugh called her look, styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, “a bit romantic, a bit of punk,” though she failed to emphasize its impressive comfort-to-glamour ratio. More photos from the carpet reveal that her shorts also happen to feature one of fashion’s most elusive accessories: pockets. Form follows function, baby.
