Robert De Niro is a dad again, and he’s “good with it.” The actor, who is 79, revealed in an interview on Monday that he recently had his seventh child, joining the ranks of famous men who refuse to stop reproducing.
While interviewing De Niro this week, ET Canada reporter Brittnee Blair said to him, “I know you have six kids.” De Niro quickly corrected her, saying, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.” At a premiere the following night, De Niro was asked about being a dad and told Extra: “I’m okay with it. I’m good with it,” before adding that it “never gets easier.” CBS This Morning reports that De Niro and his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, welcomed their daughter, Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro, on April 6. “They both wanted this baby, they are over the moon, she was brought here by love, so he is very psyched and very excited about it,” Gayle King said. Chen, a martial-arts instructor, and De Niro reportedly met while filming the movie The Intern together in 2015. The two were photographed holding hands on vacation in 2021 amid De Niro’s divorce from his wife of 20 years, Grace Hightower.
De Niro’s About My Father co-star Kim Cattrall told Extra on Tuesday that she had just found out about De Niro’s new child. “God bless him,” she said. “His significant other, Tiffany, is such a beautiful woman. She came to the set once with her family and watched filming and she was gorgeous and sweet, and I’m happy for both of them.”
De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, share a 51-year-old daughter, Drena, and a 46-year-old-son, Raphael. The actor also has 27-year-old twin sons, Julian and Aaron, with his ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith. And De Niro and his second ex-wife, Hightower, have a 24-year-old son, Elliot, and an 11-year-old daughter, Helen Grace.
De Niro told the Associated Press that becoming a dad is “always good and mysterious and you don’t know what the hell is going to happen.”
