If you had Lisa Vanderpump, Ariana Madix, and Lala Kent attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on your 2023 bingo card, congrats to you. According to the Washington Post, the Vanderpump Rules cast were the stars of the weekend.
As you may have heard, Madix has been at the center of perhaps the biggest Bravo scandal in history, thanks to her ex, Tom Sandoval, cheating on her with fellow castmate Raquel Leviss. Scandoval is apparently big enough news that it earned Vanderpump, Madix, and Kent an invitation to the dinner as guests of the Daily Mail. Their attendance was both confusing and amazing.
And of course, host Roy Wood Jr.’s roast wouldn’t have been complete without a Scandoval joke. “Tucker got caught up,” Wood said, referring to Tucker Carlson’s recent firing, as the camera panned to Madix, who covered her mouth, seemingly trying not to laugh. “Got caught up like that dude from Vanderpump Rules. I don’t know what Vanderpump Rules is about; I’ve watched it a couple of times. My friends told me it’s like BMF but for white people. Or is that Succession? No, Succession is Power for white people. No, Tucker Carlson is Power for white people. No, that’s white power — you know what, never mind.”
Per the Post, the president’s granddaughter, Naomi, was at home in her pajamas when she heard that the Vanderpump crew was around, so she and her husband rushed to get a glimpse of them. “I’m a huge Bravo head,” she told the Post; Sabrina Singh, the deputy Pentagon press secretary, is apparently also a fan, and Gisele Fetterman, the wife of Senator John Fetterman, told the paper that she was “so excited” Vanderpump, Madix, and Kent were in town for the weekend.
We know Naomi Biden talks to her grandfather every day, so is it safe to assume the president has been briefed on the details of Scandoval? I’m going to say yes.
