The Best Golden Globes Bobs, Ranked

Bobs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet kicking off awards season tonight proves it. What we love about the bob is the range: There are curled bobs, blunt ones, flipped ones, middle parts, side parts, the list goes on. There’s the Fuck-Ass bob too, the bob that’s too blunt or business-casual, but thankfully everyone got the memo that the red carpet calls for chic bobs, not Fuck-Ass bobs. The only downside of all the bob-wearers tonight is that they have no hair past their shoulders, so they’re sadly probably shivering in the cold L.A. January weather. But, lo and behold, the bob is still the best accessory of the night.

The Subtle Flipped Bob: Ayo Edebiri

Ayo Edebiri showing up in a bob was a bit predictable, but she can do no wrong. The softly flipped bob against her dangling earrings is fun and chic. Her hairstylist Miles Jefferies prepped her hair with Maui Moisture’s shea butter conditioning mist and coconut milk curl foam mousse a frizz-free duo before using a 1”curling iron to add the small flip.

The Barbie actress has been rocking a bob for most of last year. For tonight’s carpet, she wore it with a side part and an underflipped curl. The ’60s flipped ends are slowly starting to become a trend again. Her tousled texture was achieved with the cult-favorite Dyson Corrale and finished off with Briogeo’s banana + coconut hydrating soft wave texture spray for a beauty-like texture and their strengthening treatment hair oil to ensure her flipped ends looked healthy on the carpet.

The Lob: Jennifer Aniston

For those who don’t want to cut their hair all the way, a lob is always an option — it’s as sleek as a bob but requires a bit of extra length. Jennifer Aniston’s lob was an effortlessly easy style tossed and bumped.

The Effortless One: Greta Lee

Greta Lee’s side part bob looks tasteful from the way it’s swept behind her ear to the curls that are doing just enough. It’s an effortless slay by her hairstylist Jenny Cho who used a 1.25” Olivia Garden curling iron to create Hollywood waves before sculpting and pinning them into place.

The Expected Bob: Naomi Watts

Watts’s signature style is a bob. Tonight it has perfectly bumped ends and a clean side part. It’s classic and it’s working.

The Curly Bob: Sheryl Lee Ralph

Give us glam, Sheryl! This is the furthest style from a Fuck-ass bob; the curls aren’t too tight or too soft, her side bang swoops perfectly to frame her face and it’s the perfect length.

If Barbie Had a Bob: Hannah Waddingham

Something about Hannah Waddingham’s bob feels Barbie-coded. Maybe it’s the blonde or maybe it’s the voluminously fluffed bang. At least she’s not wearing pink with it.

The Pulled-Back Bob: Cailee Spaeny

Sometimes less is more. Cailee Spaeny has figured out the formula for a perfectly pulled-back bob. Without any face in her hair, it draws attention to her flushed-out blush and her statement necklace, but somehow the bob and her perfectly bumped ends still make a statement. Her hairstylist, Kiley Fitzgerald wanted “subtle, but elegant,” she achieved the look with Kristin Ess Hair products using ghd’s new Chronos styler and finished the front curls off with their classic curling iron for a retro nod.
