If you’ve spent hundreds (or thousand) of dollars on skin-care and makeup products over the years, you know the agony of opening your checked bag after a long flight and finding spilled serums, broken eye-shadow palettes, and shattered glass bottles. It’s the worst way to start vacation, in my opinion, and the reason your most coveted beauty products should not be haphazardly thrown into a flimsy toiletry bag. No, luxurious products deserve an equally luxurious travel experience. Rimowa wants to solve this problem.

The stylish, functional, and durable beauty vanity storage solution — available today worldwide in stores and online at rimowa.com for $1,940 — is an updated iteration of an archival piece that dates back to the 1970s. Rimowa’s senior vice president or product and marketing, Emelie De Vitis, tells the Cut that customers have been asking the brand to bring back the item for years. “Each update was carefully thought out. It now features a tighter travel strap at the back to firmly secure the case onto your suitcase,” she says, adding that the external dimensions are the same as the original, but many of the interior organizational elements are new.

Inside, you’ll find a spacious Italian-leather-lined compartment that has five elastic sleeves to safely store glass foundation bottles, setting spray, serums, creams, and other breakable items in your collection. There’s a built-in aluminum and plexiglass tray, which will come in handy if there is minimal bathroom counter space at your hotel or if you want to do an in-flight skin-care routine (sure, you’ll have plenty of room in first-class, but, speaking from experience, coach tray tables are really not ideal).

Whether you’re a Rimowa owner who makes walking through the airport with a brushed-metal suitcase your entire personality trait (relatable) or a longtime fan of the luxury brand who is finally ready to invest in it, it’s a beautiful piece to aspire to.
