Every year, I live for the day when the chunky knits and long coats overflowing in my closet and on my “clothes chair” can be replaced with airy dresses and lightweight jackets. My style comes alive in the warmer months, and I attribute most of that to a particular fabric. I don’t get excited about sunny color palettes or breezy silhouettes — I get excited about linen.
Natural fibers like linen are known for their breathability, wearability, and versatility, making them ideal fabrics for warm weather. I prefer linen in particular for its effortlessly elevated appeal — it’s more refined than cotton and more relaxed than silk. The one downside is that it wrinkles easily. But I recently discovered a new composition that’s even more enticing than pure linen: Good Linen from Theory. Sustainably crafted from a unique blend of flax linen sourced from France, viscose made from repurposed waste cotton fibers, and recycled elastane for stretch, this isn’t the flowy, easily-creased fabric you’re used to. Rather, it’s engineered to retain its shape so you can achieve a more tailored and polished look.
The best part is, each piece looks just as crisp on the second (or third) wear as it did on the first. Ahead are three wardrobe staples I’m living in between now and fall, and exactly how I’d style them. Good Linen has officially taken over my clothes chair.
The Jacket
Combining the appeal of a flowy A-line top and a sporty bomber jacket, this is the ideal transitional layer to throw atop a dress or tee. The structure of the jacket feels almost like a soft, poplin button-down, meaning it also works worn as a standalone top — which is how I’d wear it with wide-leg jeans and silver accessories to bring out the hardware.

The Trousers
Linen trousers are one of my favorite things to wear since they’re comfortable, but still look put-together. I typically go for a slouchier, low-slung fit for an off-duty vibe, so a more tailored pair was definitely missing from my closet. Between the clean lines and pressed front crease, these trousers are refined and flattering, and can easily take you from work to date night. I like leaning into that polished look with a matching vest and elevated accessories, but it can just as easily work with a casual ribbed tank and sandals. For being so crisp, these pants are surprisingly soft and lightweight — exactly the sort of second-skin piece you’ll want to live in for spring and summer.

The Dress
A button-down linen shirtdress is exactly the type of versatile wardrobe hero that’ll get plenty of use between now and October. The cinched waist and darker navy color help the dress translate well for more formal events, but remove the belt and leave it unbuttoned and suddenly you have a swim cover-up. It’s one of those dresses that doesn’t need much to complete — just some minimal jewelry and simple flats. And yes, there are pockets.
