You can get divorced however you want to. For some people, that looks like going no-contact and hiring a Laura Wasser type to take your ex for everything they have. For others, it looks like going to your kids’ school events together. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have taken the latter route.
Per TMZ, the exes were spotted together at back-to-school night at the Los Angeles school where they both have children enrolled. This is a classic rite of passage for any divorced couple with school-age children, and it seems as though they’ve pulled it off successfully. A source told the outlet that the couple were “totally cool with each other” and “very cordial.” There was no word on whether or not they were forced to sit at desks made for teenagers.
These two are really going with a kids-forward approach to their split. Just last week, they were photographed together as they walked into the Beverly Hills Hotel for an outing with their kids. One source told People that it was just a “fun lunch” for the kids, who apparently all get along well. A different source told “Page Six” that the former couple were “holding hands and kissing” while sitting at a different table from their children. Well, two things can be true at once.
What every outlet is reporting is that despite them wading back into the waters of being seen in public together, the divorce is still on. These two are just going about it in their own way, which is part of their appeal, if you ask me.
