“You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and whatnot, and then you see your neighbors’ houses and everything kind of around and your heart just breaks,” the This Is Us star told CBS News in an emotional interview after returning to his neighborhood and confirming that his house had been lost to the fire.

Pratt has been active on social media throughout the fires, starting on Tuesday when the blaze began approaching his and Montag’s home in the Palisades. Since then, he has been documenting his return to the property, where he’s been surveying the damage. “I know everyone is like at least you have your family. Yes I know but we are starting at zero now,” Pratt wrote in one TikTok caption. “All of our family memories are just that now. No physical connection to any of our family’s life journey together.”

“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy,” Crystal said in a statement to CNN. “Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.”

“Me and my children’s home is gone … burned to the ground with all of our things inside,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “Thankful we still have each other … starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy.”

Melissa, Joan Rivers’s daughter, told Kaitlan Collins on CNN that her house was destroyed by the fires, but that she was able to grab some important mementos as she left. “To be 100 percent honest, I grabbed my mom’s Emmy, a photo of my dad, and a drawing that my mother had done of me and my son,” she said.
