If you’re in a couple, or trouble, or just want to dress up with your bestie, you may be scouring the internet for last-minute Halloween couples costumes that will make both your non-couple and overly annoying couple friends jealous that they didn’t do it first. Just because Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have already shown off their Alice in Wonderland looks doesn’t mean the Halloween couples costume contest has been won … just yet.
Whether you’re into classic Halloween horror or cosplaying your favorite pop-culture moments or celebrity romances, we’ve rounded up some of the best couples costumes to help you win Halloween. Because what’s the spooky-season holiday without your boo?
Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz
A Halloween favorite: Who doesn’t love a Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz costume from Tim Burton’s cult classic? And thanks to the film’s recent sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the scary swindler from beyond the grave is trending once again, making the already-beloved costume even more popular. So whether you and your partner want to dress in Beetlejuice’s famous striped suit and Lydia’s “utterly alone” all-black garb or in the pair’s infamous red wedding looks — a favorite option among film fans and engaged couples (like myself and my fiancé) — you’ll easily win Halloween dressed as this paranormal pair. Yes, just like former flames Bella Hadid and the Weeknd did that one time.
Wicked’s Glinda and Elphaba
We’re officially weeks away from the long-awaited premiere of the Jon M. Chu’s Wicked. And unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that for the last few months, the film’s stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (aka Elphaba and Glinda), have been on a world-wide fashionably pink and green press tour ahead of the Broadway adaptation’s big screen release on November 22. So whether you plan to go out all as the two witches, with green and glitter skin, or just feel like wearing contrasting green and pink ensembles accessorized with a witch hat and a tiara (believe me, people will get it), the wonderfully Wicked pair is an on-trend Halloween couples costume for you and your partner, your bestie, or even a your kids.
Sabrina Carpenter and Jenny Ortena
We all know it was the summer of Sabrina Carpenter. Let’s be real, you were rocking out to “Espresso” whether you liked it or not. But the singer made sure that her fans didn’t sleep the rest of her album which is full of gems like “Taste (Me Too),” which came with a killer music video featuring Wednesday star Jenny Ortega as her twisted “other woman” rival. The music video is filled with gory yet stylish looks from Sabrina’s feathered robe and and baby blue capri and corset set to Jenny’s sexy black dress accessorized with a chainsaw, which she uses to saw Sabrina in half… naturally. But at the end of the video, once the boyfriend they’re fighting over is dead—spoiler alert—the two twin in sexy black funeral dresses and enjoy some friendly slurpees. A fun costume for you and your fashionable friend (or frenemy) who want to be a little cute but also a little scary.
Bob and Linda from Bob’s Burgers
Calling all burger babes! If you and your bae are fans of Bob’s Burgers, here’s how to channel the shop’s duo faster than you can say “Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.” Throw on some jeans, grab a few white aprons and your favorite frying pan along with some frozen patties, and you’re ready to serve up Bob’s burger of the day. For some added flair, don’t forget Bob’s beloved chalkboard or Linda’s thin cat-eye glasses. If you have kids, this is also a great family costume because who would Bob and Linda be without their three adorable children?
Scandal’s Olivia and Fitz
It’s an election year. (Vote!) But thanks to Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn’s real-life campaigning, we’ve been having serious Scandal nostalgia. So if you want to be political (in a sexy way), may we suggest dressing up like Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald Grant? This costume idea is also great for people who like the concept of partaking in Halloween but don’t want to do anything too extreme. We’re talking a nice, sharp suit for Fitz and a sexy-chic cream-colored set for Olivia with a fabulous coat and satchel, of course.
Sonny and Cher
When it comes to classic celebrity couples costumes, you can’t go wrong with Sonny and Cher. Sure, their career as a duo didn’t last forever, but their incredibly groovy style did. There are many iconic Sonny and Cher looks to choose from, or you can mix a bunch together. But as long as you have the jet-black wigs (and Sonny’s stache), any pop-culture or music enthusiast should know exactly who you are … and respect it.
Morticia and Gomez
Consider yourselves the king and queen of Halloween? Then you can’t get any spookier or more classic than The Addams Family’s Morticia and Gomez. This is probably one of the most classic couples costumes — famously worn by Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner in their wedded-bliss days. These looks are about makeup and attitude more so than the clothes. Morticia wears her long black dress, and Gomez wears his dark suit, but the ghoulish makeup is always a standout: dark eye shadow, deadly pale skin, and bold contouring. For the king and queen of Halloween, this is where you shine.
Lana Del Rey and Jeremy Dufrene
The most unlikely of couples is now one of the best Halloween couples costumes. Lana del Rey and Jeremy Dufrene are not your average pair; the singer surprised us all when she married the Louisiana-based alligator-tour guide in an intimate bayou-adjacent ceremony at the start of the month. So whether you want to channel the couple’s wedding (at which Lana was said to wear a white dress she’d found at a New Orleans vintage store) or the two lovers wearing headsets on an airboat, your looks are sure to earn appreciation from the pop-culture and Lana obsessed.
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan
Sweat, baby, sweat. If you’re obsessed with the Sweat Tour, what’s more brat than channeling everyone’s favorite onstage duo, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan? For Charli, throw on an edgy black and apple-green Brat-inspired cool-girl look, and for Troye, a skinny tank and maybe some chaps, plus two handheld mics and getting ready to steal the spotlight.
Nadja and Laszlo from What We Do in the Shadows
The more modern comedic take on Morticia and Gomez Addams is vampire duo Nadja and Laszlo. The eternal bloodsucking pair always wear ornate outfits, mostly dating back to the old-world times when they died. But you can easily portray the pair in classic vampire garb and go all out with the hair, makeup, and accessories. Nadja loves her crazy wiglike hairstyles, her red lipstick, and carrying the miniature doll version of herself, while Laszlo is always in a three-piece suit with a coat or cloak and loves his witch-skin hat. Don’t forget the fangs, of course.
The Sopranos
The mob-wife “trend” may have come and gone, but The Sopranos are forever. Whether you want to channel the show’s main characters, Tony and Carmela, or the doomed Christopher and Adriana, you and your partner can have fun with velour tracksuits, silk bowling shirts, lots of animal prints, and fake nails (accessorized with some diamond chains and maybe a tray of baked ziti). Then, bada-bing, bada-boom, you’re set as one of TV’s all-time most famous couples.
