Today is a glorious day for two reasons. First, this fine Wednesday marks the 55th birthday of the star of This Is Me … Now: A Love Story, better known as Jennifer Lopez. Second, we now have footage of J.Lo’s Bridgerton soirée that took place in the Hamptons over the weekend, courtesy of the birthday girl herself. The mark of a truly generous woman is to celebrate her own special day by gifting her fans a highly edited Instagram video set to an orchestral version of “Give Me Everything,” by Lords Pitbull, Afrojack, and Ne-Yo.
As featured in the behind-the-scenes footage on J.Lo’s Instagram, the singer wore a green Regency-style gown with opera gloves and at one point rode around in a horse-drawn carriage. Of course, there was a mini-orchestra on hand, the male members of which were forced to wear powdered wigs. Did they play live renditions of additional Pitbull hits? I hope so. Also, dancers in era-appropriate petticoats performed partnered choreography out on the reconstructed ballroom floor, grabbing panels of J.Lo’s gown and parading around her in a circle. At one point, Lopez grabbed the mic and gave her own performance to guests (we can’t hear the audio, but I’m praying it was “Let’s Get Loud”). “Dearest Gentle Reader … And a splendid evening was had by all,” she captioned the post. Splendid, indeed.
After showing her sitting in her throne for some time, the video cuts to J.Lo blowing out her candles on a multitiered cake. I wonder what she wished for. To close a sale on her and Ben Affleck’s former love nest? For another chance at a world tour? For a Kamala-nomenon? Whatever it may be, wishing the happiest birthday to Jennifer “Mother” Lopez … now.
