J.Lo Is ‘In Bloom and Unbothered’

It’s been several weeks since The Greatest Love Story Never Told crumbled into oblivion (a.k.a since Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from estranged husband Ben Affleck). But J.Lo seems intent on telegraphing to the public that not only is she surviving this mess but that she’s thriving and, more specifically, “at peace.” Of course, to do so, the singer has turned to her two favorite methods of information-sharing: Instagram photo dumps and coy statement tees.

On Saturday, the soon-to-be divorcée posted a carousel of images with the caption, “Oh, it was a summer.” Included in the dump were, in no particular order: a variety of mirror selfies, a screenshot of a quote reading, “Everything is unfolding in divine order,” J.Lo licking an ice cream cone, J.Lo’s ass cheeks poking out of a bathing suit in the mirror, and J.Lo in a T-shirt that says, “She’s in bloom and unbothered, out of reach and at peace.” (That shirt, in case you, too, would like the world to believe you’re “unbothered,” is made by the poet r.h. Sin and runs for $20.)

Given the former couple have been separated since April 26, as listed in the court documents, and the filing took place late last month on the occasion of their second-wedding anniversary, I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that J.Lo is, in fact, probably very bothered. And seriously, no judgment here. Breaking up with the same man twice is traumatic, let alone having the demise of your marriage play out in the tabloids, with warring reports from anonymous sources regarding what really went down and who hates whom more. Personally speaking, I would not be “in bloom” if this happened to me, I would be scream-crying to Evanescence in my car while watching mascara tears stream down my face for dramatic effect. But I get it: Everyone grieves differently. And if you’re J.Lo, grieving the end of your marriage happens to look pretty damn good.
