Julia Fox Goes Nude on the Subway

We’ve seen Julia Fox pretty naked, but she’s outdone even herself with the latest M.A.C campaign. This time, she’s naked on the subway as a model for the brand’s newly launched nude-lipstick collection. (Yes, we know it’s just a set and not a New York City subway.)

The brand is relaunching 20 shades, all archival colors from the ’90s and early aughts. Yes, the 2000s are archival now — sorry, millennials. The shade Fleshpot, a flesh-tone nude created in 2001, was their most-requested nude shade to bring back. A liner shade, Cool Spice, is a ’90s take on Spice, the Über-popular brownish-pink shade favored by supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.

In a video posted to M.A.C’s Instagram reintroducing some of the archival shades, the comments section is flooded with requests to bring back other beloved products. Wearing nude M.A.C lipstick without lip liner and looking just a little crazy was a millennial rite of passage.

In the images, Fox is seen fully naked, holding on to a subway pole with the words “I Only Wear M.A.C” covering her lady parts; in another gritty image, she’s sitting on the subway seats with no clothes (the words covering her again), wearing a short, curly, platinum-gray-and-purple wig and tall stripper heels. These must be photoshopped: That was my initial thought at first glance because I can’t imagine a bare behind on a subway bench. But we know Ms. Fox will do anything to pull a look, and we love her for that.

Either way, she can now add “M.A.C muse” to her long list of accomplishments. “The shades are raw, sexy, and unapologetically me,” she tells the Cut. M.A.C lovers have already been raving about the collection and are excited about archival shades returning. As for actual nudes — we’ll just leave that to Fox.
