Apparently, anyone can get a Fox News show these days. Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump and daughter-in-law to President Donald Trump, is being tapped for a weekly show on the conservative news station starting on February 22. After removing her name from consideration to take over Marco Rubio’s Senate seat, Trump said she had a “big announcement to share” come January. Well … this is it.
Taking a historically sad Saturday night slot, My View With Lara Trump is expected to focus on the “return of common sense to all corners of American life” and will include a mix of analysis and interviews with influential figures, per the network.
“I’m thrilled to bring my voice back to Fox News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great,” Trump, the former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, said in a statement. “As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future.”
Trump had previously joined Fox News as a paid contributor in March 2021 but was dropped in December 2022 after her father-in-law announced his third presidential run. The split was apparently amicable, with the network saying, “Fox News has made it a rule to not employ people running for office or directly connected to active campaigns.” It appears that Fox doesn’t mind employing people who are directly connected to active presidents, though.
With President Trump snapping up Fox News talking heads like Pete Hegseth and Sean Duffy for his Cabinet, why not replace them with election-denying MAGA loyalists, keeping the network as another functioning arm of the administration. Is Barron next?
