Ryan Reynolds has never been one to pass up a joke, and this weekend during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary show, he really went for it. In a staged audience-participation interaction, the Deadpool actor stood up to ask Tina Fey and Amy Poehler a question. When the pair inquired about how he’s doing, he replied, “Great!” before quipping: “Why, what have you heard?” in an apparent reference to his wife’s intense legal feud with Justin Baldoni.
Lively is in the midst of an ongoing court battle with Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star and director, whom she accused of sexual harassment and a smear campaign in December. Baldoni, who countersued Lively and Reynolds and their PR team for extortion and defamation, claims that Lively hijacked control of the film, then scapegoated him with false sexual-assault allegations. Baldoni and Lively go to trial in 2026, but until then, it seems they will be battling it out in the court of public opinion.
SNL’s 50th anniversary event was Lively and Reynolds’ first red-carpet appearance since the drama began. “Page Six” claims some members of Hollywood raised their eyebrows at the couples’ attendance, with one source suggesting that “Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend him.” Looks like an already messy situation got even messier.
