It’s one thing to wake up and smell the coffee; it’s another to smell like the coffee. Well, Sabrina Carpenter just launched Me Espresso, a fragrance that is exactly what it sounds like. With top notes of espresso bean and cappuccino, the scent is fitting for Carpenter, whose song “Espresso” was named the most-streamed song of 2024 on Spotify. It’s not the singer’s first perfume. Her other fragrances are similarly decadent: Sweet Tooth, Caramel Dream, and Cherry Baby. The three scents, packaged in chocolate bar-like bottles, feature sweet aromas that blend sugary notes for playful yet desirable fragrances. Me Espresso is Carpenter’s “new staple and obsession,” according to her Instagram post announcing the scent. “Being in the top 0.001% listeners of espresso I fear this was made for me,” commented one fan.
With Carpenter singing lyrics like “Soft skin and I perfumed it for ya,” we probably could’ve taken a guess that this was coming, especially when you consider the trend of everything smelling sweet this past year. But will this fragrance smell exactly like coffee beans? Not quite. While there are notes of espresso beans and cappuccino, it’s blended with middle notes of night-blooming jasmine, vanilla orchid, and biscotti, plus base notes of caramel drizzle, sugared amber, and whipped cream. It sounds like a warm dessert, one you might wear in the evening if you want to leave a sweet trail while out drinking espresso martinis or in the daytime if you want to channel your actual morning espresso.
The $60 fragrance is available now and will probably make a great gift for the friend who couldn’t stop singing “Espresso” this year. If it’s too decadently sweet for them, they can always layer it with a scent that’s less indulgent — or they’ll just have a huge chocolate bar bottle as part of their fragrance wardrobe. While the bottle is unfortunately not edible, the scent itself is sure to make any wearer smell delicious.
