You can keep your Sephora sale face masks and holiday kits, they did not donate to Trump’s campaign despite what viral videos on social media are saying. Since Trump won the election last week, people have been eager to call out companies and brands who donated to his campaign or supported him in any way so they know who to boycott. Here is what we know.
On November 10, a TikTok creator, Karress Marie posted a video of what companies did and did not donate to the Trump campaign. The video, which has now amassed 13.7 million views, calls out competitor companies to hint at who to shop with: “Walmart, DONATED, Target DID NOT,” the video reads. A few seconds into the clip, the creator names Sephora, saying, “Sephora BIG BIG BIG DONATIONS.” No factual proof was posted with this accusation, but people saw the video and ran with it, starting to call for a Sephora boycott.
Sephora has confirmed it did not make a corporate donation to any political candidate. In a statement to the Cut, the retailer said, “It has come to our attention that there is incorrect information circulating on social media regarding company donations. Sephora does not make corporate donations to political candidates. Sephora’s mission is to create a welcoming beauty shopping experience for all. Sephora’s parent company, LVMH, is also not known to have made any donations.
Sometimes, companies deserve to be boycotted for their values, but Sephora doesn’t. You can keep shopping there for the holidays, contrary to what people on the internet say. Phew!
