Snoop Dogg is unbothered by people who are upset with him for performing during Donald Trump’s inauguration weekend. On Sunday, the rapper shared a video to Instagram in which he responded to his detractors. “For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love,” Snoop said while smoking in his car and listening to gospel music.
“Y’all can’t hate enough, I love too much,” he continued. “Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool, I’m together — still a Black man. Still 100 percent Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out.”
Snoop performed at the Crypto Ball in D.C. during inauguration weekend, sharing the bill with Soulja Boy and Rick Ross. They joined artists including Jewel, Billy Ray Cyrus, Nelly, Rascal Flatts, and Carrie Underwood in celebrating Trump’s second term.
People seem particularly upset with Snoop, who has been vocally anti-Trump in the past. “Lost all respect,” one person wrote in his comments. “There is no hate Snoop, we thought you cared about black issues that’s all!! Now bye,” wrote another. In recent years, Snoop has changed his tune on Trump. Last year, the rapper told the Times of London that he had “nothing but love and respect” for the then-candidate after he pardoned Michael Harris, the co-founder of Death Row Records, at the end of his first term.
The New York Post reported that the rapper lost half a million Instagram followers after his performance, which sounds like a lot until you realize that he has 88 million followers on the platform. However, that might be half a million people who won’t immediately swoon when they see Snoop hawking [insert literally any product here] in the future, and that could be considered a win.
