Travis Kelce has proudly said that instead of working with a stylist, he prefers to dress himself in outfits that show off his sense of personal style. But it sounds like when it comes to his hair, he might be listening to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
“I’ve been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it,” said Patrick Mahomes, Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate and friend, in an interview with SiriusXM NFL on Tuesday.
Although Kelce didn’t invent the buzz-cut fade, it has become his go-to hairstyle (along with his “killa stache”). He told reporters in February that he gets the style by asking for “a two on top, a nice high- to mid-fade with a taper on the back.”
A famous girlfriend styling her boyfriend isn’t that surprising — after all, Zoë Kravitz has transformed Channing Tatum’s style. But while Swift prefers to play it safe when it comes to her wardrobe, Kelce is the opposite. He’s described his eye-catching pregame and red-carpet looks as “full-on me.” While speaking on the Riggle’s Picks podcast in November, he attempted to explain his fashion choices. “I kind of went to, like, an artsy, very multicultural school and community growing up. Every day at my school, there was kids showing up in the latest, newest, hottest gear and sneakers and everything, and I just naturally kind of gravitated toward having fun with what I throw on.”
Snaps of Kelce at training camp show his new, growing mane. Travis, if you’re reading this, feel free to take Taylor’s hair advice. But when it comes to clothes, maybe it’s not the worst idea to keep doing your own thing?
