So much can happen at a celebrity-packed Balenciaga show — Kim Kardashian could be mummified in caution tape, famous daughters may suddenly materialize, or you can accidentally start rumors of major A-list beef. In footage currently circulating on X, Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek appear to have had a fleetingly awkward exchange during the fashion house’s Paris Fashion Week show last month, prompting people to speculate that they’re in a fight.
Though the show happened a full two weeks ago, a Brazilian news outlet called Central Reality only recently posted a clip showing the two of them chatting with Katy Perry lurking nearby. At one point, Hayek turns Kidman around for photos, and Kidman physically moves Hayek’s hands, seemingly not wanting to take a photo. She then kisses Perry hello, makes a few more vague hand motions to Hayek, who nods understandingly, before touching her arm and exiting the frame. Later, during the show, Kidman sat next to Hayek’s husband, Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault.
Obviously, it is hard to tell what really happened in a conversation during which I doubt even these two women could properly hear each other. Several anonymous sources have done their best to dispel the idea that they were at odds. One of those sources told Us Weekly point blank, “There is no beef between the two women.” Someone else added, “They are close friends and there’s nothing to this. They were in the middle of a conversation and it’s being taken out of context.” Yet another person told the Daily Mail, “There is no issue,” adding, “They were talking about something concerning advice and having a powwow while being bombarded and yelled at surrounded from all angles by all cameras. They just wanted to go.”
Haven’t you ever wanted to socialize in peace at a Balenciaga show in Paris?
