Has Lana Del Rey Listened to The Tortured Poets Department?

We’re more than a fortnight removed from the release of The Tortured Poets Department, and it’s safe to say that every Taylor Swift fan has their favorite tracks locked and loaded. Lana Del Rey, a close friend and former collaborator of Swift’s, was asked to share her favorite TTPD song on the Met Gala carpet. Her answer did not come as quickly as it would have for a civilian Swiftie.

“It’s the one, uh, ‘Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?’ whatever that title was,” Del Rey said. It’s kind of nice to see someone be a little flip about Swift for once, especially one of her friends. Luckily for her, Del Rey did get the name right. She narrowly avoided a very scary email from Tree Paine, though her walking the carpet with Kim Kardashian did raise a few eyebrows.

You can’t really blame Del Rey for having to grasp at the title. If you count the surprise double album, Swift released 31 songs for TTPD. That is a lot of music to listen to, even if your friend made it. Del Rey probably played it through once out of respect, clocked which song sounded the most like one of her own, and decided that would be her favorite. The strategy is admirable, but I would also recommend that Del Rey listen to “Down Bad.” I think she’d like it!
