Looks like J.Lo’s post-divorce glow is really setting in. As the dust settles from take two of her whirlwind romance with Ben Affleck, the 55-year-old has emerged as the unlikely Princess of Sundance. Over the weekend, Lopez was a steady presence at this year’s film festival in Park City, where she was on hand to celebrate the premiere of Bill Condon’s Kiss of the Spider Woman. The actress showed up to the screening at the Eccles Theater in a glittering, webbed spider gown in an ode to the film’s title, and she was later met with a standing ovation, per Variety.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” she told the audience through tears. “The reason I even wanted to be in this business is because my mom would sit me in front of the TV and [West Side Story] would come on once a year. I was mesmerized and was like, ‘That’s what I want to do.’”
“This is the first time I actually got to do it,” she added, turning her attention to Condon. “This man made my dream come true.”
Safe to say Kiss of the Spider Woman is shaping up to be a little more popular with critics than This Is Me … Now? But J.Lo’s adventures in winter wonderland didn’t stop there. At one point, she posted a Reel of her all-black leather getup as she traipsed through the snow, with the caption, “Ready to Sundance.” And on Sunday, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Lopez found time for an impromptu DJ set at the festival’s boozy TAO pop-up. An eyewitness told the outlet that she DJ’d for ten “epic” minutes, during which she played her early-aughts banger “All I Have.” I’m going to need her to drop the full set list on SoundCloud.
J.Lo, if you’re listening, I’m in full support of a midlife pivot to DJ Jenny From the Block. I guess she wasn’t kidding when she said her divorce was “exactly” what she needed.
