Over the weekend at the Rome International Film Festival, the queen of monochrome (and severe buns) graced the red carpet for the premiere of Her and ditched her go-to black for an intricate white creation from Balenciaga’s spring 2014 collection. Mara looked light and airy in a strapless, form-fitting lace dress, which she wore with a sheer, cocoonlike cape. She then continued her white theme with strappy B Brian Atwood sandals, and only added contrast to her look with dark red lips that matched the carpet. She swept her hair into a tight half-’do and, despite the fact that she wasn’t wearing black, channeled some serious Loki vibes. It must be a mix of the dark hair, gaunt expression, and captivating flourish of that translucent cape.
