I barely noticed Shaun White enter Richard Chai to take his seat. He just appeared like a specter, magically emerging from some special backstage area where the complimentary room-temperature Smart Water flowed like water.
Somebody else noticed Shaun White’s fitted coat and slicked-back hair: Joe Jonas, onetime Cut fashion correspondent. And Shaun noticed Joe, sitting confidently in the cool-kids’ section. After appreciating the bevy of men’s headbands that Chai showed in his fall 2015 collection (good look, by the way), Shaun made a shy but very intentional beeline for Joe. The two exchanged the secret handshake of bromance initiation — joining hands together, pulling each other in for a half-hug, and then enthusiastically clapping each other on the back. They separated and, unsure of what to say next but unable to break free, stood idly next to one another. Shaun sipped his room-temperature Smart Water. They both started to talk at the same time, then chuckled. Joe said, “See you later, man.” And Shaun knew he meant it.

Little did they know someone else noticed them noticing each other, too: the newly blond bassist of Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz, who attended the show with Leigh Lezark. He gazed on as Joe and Shaun performed their courtship dance, looking a little lonely.
