Most cat owners don’t have a lot in common with Taylor Swift. It’s safe to say that the pop star probably doesn’t have to deal with the day-to-day irritations of having a feline companion or two, like trying to trim a cat’s claws without being straight-up murdered or dealing with smelly wet cat food on a hungover morning. However, there is one thing that is the great equalizer among cat people, and that’s trying to deal with inexplicable late-night yowling. (Also, the occasional wound.)
Swift posted a blurry, poorly lit Instagram video of her cat, Meredith, meowing her adorable head off while her human, sick in bed with a cold, was trying to sleep. Meredith and Swift’s other cat, Olivia Benson, were once nearly ubiquitous presences on Swift’s Instagram feed; Swift was even photographed walking around with Olivia like it’s totally business as usual to walk on the streets of New York City holding your cat. It’s been a while since the Scottish Folds have been spotted, except for a glimpse of Meredith in the window of Swift’s TriBeCa apartment, and perhaps now we know why. Perhaps Meredith is just a jerk.
