The Recording Academy sure took its time, but at long last, the 2025 Grammys gave Beyoncé her long-awaited — and deserved — Album of the Year award. In the shock of the ceremony, Cowboy Carter took home the final award of the evening, beating out Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, and Sabrina Carpenter, among others.
That Renaissance and Lemonade didn’t nab this award will forever remain confusing (but not surprising) to me. But let the record show that not only is Beyoncé a certified, Grammy-winning country artist, but the winningest Grammy artist in history. (Oh, and she also won Best Country Album.) (Boop!)
Beyoncé hugged Jay-Z and then brought her daughter Blue Ivy onstage, where she thanked the firefighters, the Academy, her collaborators, and Black country-music pioneer Linda Martell.
“I just feel very full and very honored. It’s been many, many years,” she said. “I hope we keep pushing forward and opening doors.”
