Step aside, Tenants of the Trees; Los Angeles’s hottest nightclub is the Sweat Tour after-party presented by Spotify. Charli XCX and Troye Sivan brought their joint tour to the City of Angels last night for the first of two shows, and at least one former First Daughter was in attendance. Was it Jenna Bush Hager? No, I wish. It was Malia Obama. That makes more sense, doesn’t it?
Obama was photographed looking very cool in a corset top and a pleated denim skirt with a raw hem. Do I need a pleated denim skirt with a raw hem? Maybe!
Most recently, Obama (a.k.a. Malia Ann) was seen wearing another cute outfit while on the red carpet at the Deauville American Film Festival in France, where she was screening her short film, The Heart. What is the point of being a former First Daughter if you don’t leverage it to look cool while going to fun places? Chelsea Clinton, take note.
There was also a mini The Idol reunion at the after-party — remember that show? Lily-Rose Depp was spotted hanging out with K-pop megastar Jennie, who played her friend on the show. Depp was joined by her girlfriend, the rapper 070 Shake.
You might be wondering whether anyone there would be recognizable to someone whose birth year starts with 19. Luckily for you, Kesha was there. Charli had brought her out onstage during the show to perform both the “Spring Breakers” remix and “Tik Tok.”
True to her word, the party did not stop, and Kesha hung around for the after-party.
Of course, all of this has me wondering if Obama met any of these people. There’s a lot to be discussed if you really think about it. She and Depp could talk about being nepo babies. She could tell Charli that she’s the reason “365” ended up on Barack Obama’s summer playlist. She could say to Kesha … well, I’m out of ideas. I hope she had a good night, and I look forward to seeing her pull another look somewhere fun in the near future.
