Meghan Markle is starting to get the hang of her new career as a content creator. Since her big return to Instagram, Markle has used her platform sparingly and posted from a distance: a video of her running on the beach to announce her return, a slideshow of photos commemorating her late dog (which did bring me to tears), and the trailer for her upcoming Netflix show. While certainly personal, it felt like social media from a long time ago. Her elder millennial was showing. Now, with her latest post — about sourcing merch from Billie Eilish to give to a teenager who lost her home in the L.A. wildfires — she seems to have figured it out.

Hello, editing! A regular front-facing camera video would be one thing, but this one starts in medias res with Meghan walking through her house and goes on to feature the kind of quick cuts made popular by TikTok influencers. She’s fresh-faced and casual and speaking to her audience as if they were in the room with her. We don’t usually see Meghan like this, and I have to say that it’s working for her. Also working for her? Starting the video with her hair tucked into her sweater, a classic cool-girl move.

I won’t get ahead of myself, but this could be a good lane for Meghan to stay in. This video manages to show off her philanthropy and her famous friends at the same time (shout-out, Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo) while also coming off as not too polished. Perhaps the secret to success for Meghan lies in just being a normal influencer. I’m crossing my fingers for a voice-over that goes, “A day in my life as a former royal living in Montecito.”
