On Thursday evening, a who’s who of football players, coaches, and WAGs gathered in New Orleans to pat themselves on the back during the annual NFL Honors. The guest list included Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and fiancée Hailee Steinfeld and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (sans Olivia Ponton). The ceremony was hosted by Snoop Dogg. Also in attendance were 72-year-old former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. Naturally, the couple’s 48-year age gap quickly became low-hanging fruit for Snoop’s opening monologue.
Snoop, fresh from celebrating Donald Trump’s inauguration, kicked off the evening by reminiscing on his longtime football fandom. “I mean, I remember back when the Cowboys was good, and I remember back when the Chiefs was bad,” he said. “And I remember … Bill Belichick’s girlfriend wasn’t even born yet.”
As the camera panned the audience in New Orleans’s Saenger Theatre, the crowd gasped, covered their mouths, and did their best to stifle their laughter. Hudson was then shown with her jaw on the ground before quickly switching to laughter. Good for her for taking the dig in stride. Belichick, meanwhile, looked a little less amused.
This isn’t the first time Belichick and his Gen-Z girlfriend have been the butt of a joke. Last year, during Tom Brady’s Netflix roast, retired Patriots player Rob Gronkowski joked that Belichick was scouting for a “new girlfriend” at a local high school. Regardless, the couple appears to be going strong, hitting up red carpets across the country, playing golf, and counting Belichick’s Super Bowl rings for fun, probably. I bet it’s only a matter of time before they add an engagement ring to that stack.
