Shockingly, there is at least one woman in America who doesn’t really care which way the election goes. Her name is Ivanka Trump, and she’s too busy being self-employed to concern herself with whether or not her father is going to be president again. At least that’s what it seems like based on a new report in the New York Times.
Trump did not make herself available for comment, but she offered up her husband, Jared Kushner, who spoke on her behalf. According to him, “[Ivanka] made the decision when she left Washington that she was closing that chapter of her life. And she’s been remarkably consistent.”
Kushner, who currently runs a private-equity fund bankrolled in part by the governments of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, said that should Donald Trump get reelected, he doesn’t foresee “a major shift in terms of what we prioritize.”
“We’re rooting for him — obviously, we’re proud of him,” Kushner told the Times. “But, you know, either way, our life will just continue to move forward.” That’s how you talk about your kid when they’ve put a lot of work into their science-fair project, not your father-in-law’s presidential run.
So what is Trump actually spending her time doing, now that she has removed herself from the campaign trail and has no desire to return to Washington? Well, recently she took her daughter to the Eras Tour. Per her Instagram, she has recently gotten into weight lifting, and the Times reports that she practices jujitsu at Gisele Bündchen’s boyfriend’s studio. Miami is very small if you’re superrich. As for “work,” Trump is reportedly “investing in businesses” though she hasn’t announced which ones yet. It’s a surprise!
Her blasé attitude toward the election does not extend to her relationship with her father, Kushner told the Times. “If he calls her for advice or help on something, we’re always there,” he said. So she is basically just letting her doddering old father enjoy his hobbies, but instead of model trains or baseball box scores, his hobby is the end of democracy. How sweet.
