The Real Super Bowl Showdown Is Taylor vs. Gigi

In less than two weeks time, we will have a showdown for the ages in New Orleans. Yes, I’m sort of talking about the Eagles going up against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but more specifically I’m talking about best friends Gigi Hadid and Taylor Swift duking it out as newly converted die-hard fans of the Eagles and the Chiefs. Game on!

Swift, as I’m sure you know, has become a mainstay at Chiefs games thanks to her boyfriend, professional football player Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, Hadid has become an Eagles fan due to being in a long-term relationship with Philadelphia’s ambassador to New York City, Bradley Cooper. She even went to a game recently! Yes, they both come to their teams via the men in their lives, but that’s not to say that these women can’t engage in some light sports betting and trash-talking.

Hadid will have lots of ammo, considering that up until she was dating Kelce, Swift was on the record as an Eagles fan. Originally from the Philadelphia suburbs, Swift usually refers to Philly as her hometown shows when she’s on tour. Here she is in her Fearless era wearing an Eagles jersey and performing “Today Was a Fairytale.”

In her 2020 song “gold rush,” Swift sings, “I see me padding ’cross your wooden floors/With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.” While there was some speculation that she might be referring to the band, she cleared that up at an Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia, saying, “I love the band the Eagles, but guys, like, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team.” Swift was so allegiant to the Eagles that she was still wearing merch about two weeks before she met Kelce.

What ammo does Swift have against Hadid? Well, she could always come back to the idea that Kelce is actually on the team, whereas Cooper is probably yelling as if he’s head coach Nick Sirianni. Whatever happens, it’ll be fun and the loser will have to buy the other one dinner at the Corner Store.
