We are mere days away from Taylor Swift’s second major Super Bowl appearance. Even though we now know what to expect from the pop star attending the Big Game — an A-list entourage, a noteworthy outfit, a big kiss on the field after the game — we still have a lot of questions. Here are all of the ones I could think of, ranked in order from most to least sane.
Is Taylor Swift going to the Super Bowl?
Barring some kind of freak accident, it seems certain that Swift is going to the Super Bowl to watch Travis Kelce. Last year she had to fly in straight from the Tokyo Eras Tour shows, so getting there this year is a piece of cake by comparison. With the Grammys behind her, Swift’s schedule is now wide open. I imagine she’s had the date circled in red on her calendar since before the Chiefs were even officially playing in the big game.
What will she wear?
Now this is the real question. Swift has been loving dressing up for Chiefs games this season, so you have to imagine that she’s going to go all out for the Super Bowl. Over the past five months, she’s strutted into Arrowhead Stadium wearing an all-denim look paired with thigh-high boots, a Vivienne Westwood set with knee-high boots and sparkly faux freckles, a red-and-black gingham skirt suit with knee-high boots, and this Jamiroquai-inspired look (with boots, of course). While we don’t know exactly what her ensemble will be on Sunday, it’s a safe bet she’ll be decked out in red and wearing some kind of tall boot.
Who will she bring?
Another great question. Last year, Swift arrived in Las Vegas with a crew that included her mother, Andrea; Blake Lively; Ice Spice; and her longtime non-celebrity bestie, Ashley Avignone. Lively has a lot of other stuff going on at the moment, and we haven’t heard much about Swift’s friendship with Ice Spice lately, so it seems unlikely that those two will be making a repeat appearance. Andrea and Avignone, on the other hand? Very likely. Maybe it’s Gracie Abrams’s turn in the suite.
One Swift pal we know is likely to be at the game is Gigi Hadid, whose boyfriend, Bradley Cooper, is one of Philadelphia’s premiere emissaries to the rest of the country. However, because they’ll be rooting for the Eagles, I doubt they’ll be sitting in the same suite.
How are Swifties celebrating?
Just like last year, they’re throwing Super Bowl parties. Here’s my tip: If a Swiftie invites you to their Super Bowl party, you should go. Trust and believe that they are making a beautiful spread and probably the best buffalo chicken dip you’ve ever had.
Will she interact with Donald Trump?
Even though Kelce said that it’s “an honor” for the president to come to the Super Bowl, Swift is probably smart enough to keep her distance. She will, instead, probably just hang out with Brittany Mahomes (who might find it hard to avoid the president, one of her top fans). Maybe we’ll get some photos of her with the new baby!
Will she perform with Kendrick at halftime?
No, next question.
What will she eat?
Thankfully, People has done the reporting about what food will be in the luxury suites this year. In addition to the specialty po’boys available to everyone (alligator sausage, lobster karaage, and a vegetarian bánh mì), attendees in the suites will be able to nosh on “sushi and sandwich platters, seafood towers, and luxurious tomahawk steaks with the Super Bowl LIX logo branded onto the bone.” Yum! We’ve come a long way from “seemingly ranch.”
What will she and Donna Kelce talk about?
Now this is what I actually want to know. These two have a very interesting relationship, and I’m always curious what they’re chatting about. Books? TV? Just Travis? If Swift needs some suggestions, the Hallmark Channel is running a Donna Kelce holiday-movie marathon in honor of the Super Bowl. That’s at least, like, five minutes of conversation.
Is Travis Kelce going to propose on the field?
While it seems obvious to me that a public proposal would be too much even for them, people are obsessed with this idea. At a press conference on Monday, a reporter asked Kelce if he planned on proposing at halftime. “Wouldn’t you like to know,” Kelce replied coyly. Sorry, but if he were to do this, why would it be at halftime? There’s a lot of other stuff going on then, and he’s still at work! The real question is: Would he do it on the field after the Chiefs win? Again, the answer is probably no, but it’s at least a better question.
