Well, pals, it’s almost Inauguration Day. I’m not sure how we slipped into this timeline, but here we are! Obviously, there’s a lot at stake in the upcoming Trump 2.0 presidency, as well as a whole new cast of characters — professional-wrestling alums, MAHA missionaries, and, of course, Elon Musk. But what do the stars have to say about Trump’s day one? And are we going to be okay? Read on for your astrological Inauguration Day forecast.
First, when is Inauguration Day again?
Inauguration Day in the United States always takes place on January 20, which means it coincides with the beginning of Aquarius season — the sign that happens to be associated with the masses, humanitarianism, and large-scale societal conditions. The president is supposed to represent the people, so — technically — this individual serves as the figurehead for the collective experience. (See? There are no coincidences, people!) More on that in a moment.
The time of day that things kick off should also raise your astrological eyebrows: noon. You see, every astrologer knows that when the sun is directly overhead, it perfectly aligns with a spot in the birth chart known as the Midheaven, which represents public image, success, and long-term legacy. There’s a regal nature to the sun at this place; it crowns the chart, symbolizing visibility, authority, and recognition. This placement ensures that the leader taking the oath is stepping into a position of maximum prominence, with their actions and legacy written into the public consciousness.
What does astrology predict for this Inauguration Day?
So while we can expect Inauguration Day to coincide with the beginning of Aquarius season, and that the sun will conjunct (be at the same point) as the Midheaven, this year also boasts some incredibly unusual and (gasp) unprecedented astrology.
This year, Pluto — the planet of large-scale, big-picture, absolutely earth-shattering transformation — will also be conjunct the Sun, at 1º Aquarius. Pluto is an incredibly slow-moving planet, so before it entered Aquarius just a few weeks ago, it hadn’t been there for 248 years (!), since the late 1700s! Hey Siri, when was the American Revolution again? Indeed!
What’s more, there’s never been an Inauguration Day where the sun and Pluto have been this closely connected (the sun is at 0º and Pluto is at 1º). Traditionally, a sun-Pluto conjunction is considered an intense and transformative aspect, symbolizing power shifts, deep revelations, and the emergence of hidden forces. But that’s not all: The Part of Fortune, which represents luck and abundance, is also at this same point — 1º Aquarius — suggesting that destiny is playing an active role in shaping this inauguration.
My astrological take: we are witnessing a profound shift in collective power dynamics. This moment signals a reckoning with institutional control , wealth distribution, and the structures that dictate access to information and resources. The sun’s illumination of Pluto’s influence suggests that hidden forces are being exposed on a public scale, and with the Part of Fortune involved, this upheaval is not random — it’s deeply tied to destiny, a turning point in how authority and autonomy are negotiated on a collective level.
Phew. Anything else?
Did I mention the Venus-Saturn conjunction in Pisces? In mundane astrology (an offshoot of astrology that considers how the impact of the Zodiac’s goings-on impact world events), Venus represents women’s issues, while Saturn is associated with traditional bureaucratic policies, so the fusion of these energies indicates a shift toward conservatism. I fear this aspect could suggest that new policies will be enforced to control our bodily autonomy, and — broadly speaking — we’ll see (even more of) a glorification of trad wives and 1950s “family values” peppered throughout the inauguration.
Also, Mars is still retrograde in the chart, which is significant because Mars governs action and forward momentum. When retrograde, Mars’s energy gets a little wonky, leading to frustration, delays, and unresolved tensions simmering beneath the surface. This suggests that while the new administration may enter office with grand ambitions, there will likely be obstacles, conflicts, and struggles to assert control. Additionally, with Mars in Cancer (a sign Mars doesn’t love to be occupying), issues surrounding domestic policies — especially those related to borders, military strategy, and public safety — could be particularly fraught. Oh!
And, last but certainly not least, the moon will be in Libra on Inauguration Day, bringing themes of justice into focus. In mundane astrology, the moon represents the people and their emotional state, and with Libra — a sign deeply associated with fairness and equilibrium — there will likely be heightened attention on the legal system, accountability, and who is holding the scales of power. This placement suggests that public sentiment will be tethered to themes of legitimacy and ethical governance, with an emphasis on whether justice is truly being served.
In short: Buckle up, friends, here goes everything.
